The 2018 edition of the Dominican Republic Carnival will take place on March 4th in Santo Domingo, but locally in Puerto Plata there is a parade each Sunday at the Malecon ( Ocean Drive ) avenue, in the afternoon between 2-6pm. It is called the “warming up” prior to the main parade/contest in Santo Domingo, where participants from all the provinces of the DR will display their best costumes and original designs.
