Los Pescadores

Los pescadores in Puerto Plata is the name locals give to a pier officially known as “Las Yolas”, which is the place where each morning local fishermen depart from to go fishing in the Atlantic Ocean facing this city. This is the local fishermen’s association main point to launch their vessels.

According to the Mayor’s office: The Las Yolas project, located on Av. Gregorio Luperón (Malecón) in Puerto Plata, arises from the need of native fishermen proper marketing of fish and shellfish subtracted from the waters of the Atlantic.

It contemplates a pier for the mooring of the yolas, an area of reception and sale of fresh products with an open concept and cozy with high standards of hygiene and quality.

It has elements of the Victorian style and at the same time contemporary to maintain a harmony in the design. The project is owned by the fishermen’s association las Yolas and has an area of 200.00 m2 of construction. This new pier was built by the Puerto Plata Mayor’s office under Roquelito Garcia.

The Malecon: Puerto Plata’s Ocean Drive

Asociacion de Pescadores Las Yolas is located near the end of the Malecon, Puerto Plata’s ocean drive, about 100 meters before reaching the big horizontal, silver sign and La Puntilla, facing Aguaceros and Tam Tam Restaurants. Best time to get fresh fish here? around 9am when the fishermen are returning from the early morning shift.
